Bioregional Context
The Philippines archipelago sits in one of the world's most disaster-prone regions, positioned along the Pacific Ring of Fire and within the typhoon belt. The country faces multiple climate hazards including 20+ typhoons annually, flooding, landslides, and drought cycles, with its coastal areas particularly vulnerable to rising sea levels. Deforestation and watershed degradation have intensified these issues, especially affecting rural and indigenous communities.
