Samsø is a Danish island community internationally recognized for its pioneering transition to 100% renewable energy. The community achieved energy independence through a combination of wind turbines, solar, and biomass district heating systems powered by local agricultural waste, with many installations community-owned. The island has set an ambitious target to be completely fossil fuel free by 2030, initiating conversion to electric transportation starting with the marinas.
